The Peek-a-Boo dress with come- hither ties at center bust and hips and a *small* diamond-shaped keyhole at a very pretty place just below your bust, shaded like palms by the ties. Crisp 100% cotton poplin with our very own hand-printed polka dot print with black dots on a deepish blue red, this set is punctuated with black contrast at the jacket cuffs and collar, inside the petals and at the hip tie. The skirt tie is functional and so can be cinched up or loosened a bit. The jacket has three-quarter sleeves.

The dress has a  fully-boned Petal Bust bodice. The “petals” can be worn standing straight up or curling outward.

Wear it strapless, or with the button-in, sweetheart, polka dotted halter strap or the black halter strap; you’ll receive both. Or wear it strapless for a cocktail look. The structure insures it will cling and hold its shape.

The sarong skirt is universally flattering on all figures.

SIZING INFORMATION

One side of this lamé has a sheer layer of black on it that tones down the blinding shimmer. We have used that for the outside of the dress and used the “blinding shimmer” side inside  the bust “petals”. We will send it to you with two button-in halter straps- one blinding and the other with the copper beneath the ultra thin sheer black layer. You can also wear it strapless.

This is made from two pieces  enabling you to mix and match the skirt and corselette with other items in your wardrobe and  so that the  skirt will settle right into the correct spot on top of the corselette at your natural waist for a better fit.

Our bodice is highly constructed with boning from waist to tops of cups and more boning in the back for a snug, sleek fit.

The fabric is classic lame’ which is airy as opposed to the stretch, heavy-weight Lastex that has a similar shimmer but is much heavier. It’s not at all scratchy and is 100% classic old Hollywood cocktail style.

You can wear it with confidence up to the stated size. But you cannot wear it any larger at all- go up to the next size or it will be too hard on the fabric seams.

SIZING INFORMATION

We have added a 100% cotton flannel interlining inside this jacket. So you have three layers- the outside of the jacket and the inside- both from our luscious, hand-woven cotton, plus a layer of warm 100% cotton flannel between the two.  It’s detailed with a striped collar that can be worn down or turned-up and the notched cuffs feature a button covered in the striped fabric.

This is a three piece set that you can wear together or combine with other pieces of your wardrobe.

We have taken advantage of the couture detailing that we do best here and have cut and matched the stripes on the details with 100% symmetry. Look closely at the way they match at the center front of the bodice!

The corselette is boned from top to bottom in the front. It comes with two button-in sweetheart halter straps- one in stripes and one in the dress’s main color. Or wear it strapless for cocktails.  The sleek back view has all elastic ruching so it remains snug with boning in the back as well and does not collapse or rumple. The channeled strips of boning in back also provide a couture corset reference.

The wrap sarong skirt is universally flattering on everyone with it’s diagonal drape and accent at the hip. It can be cinched up for an entrance or loosened a bit after dinner at the Mocambo Club.

We have this 100% cotton sharkskin fabric hand-woven locally to our specifications, including the stripes. It looks just like real vintage because it is made exactly like real vintage from the weaving technique to the fiber. This fabric has black fibers used in the lengthwise direction of the weave and colored fibers in the crosswise, creating an iridescent and a magically slimming effect. Shown here in Grape, you may also order it in any of our other sharkskin colors for the main body of the dress.

SIZING INFORMATION

The back view is fabulous. The draped-and-tucked-at-center-bust wide V goes down from the shoulders into tiny loop at each shoulder blade in back at the top of the bodice and can be tied in a bow on one shoulder or in the middle.  The sash from the shoulders goes down into tiny loop at each shoulder blade at the top of the dress and can be tied in a bow on one shoulder or in the middle.

The enchanting waterfall ruffle is hyper-feminine and come-hither as can be.

This dress was gasp-inducing when we had it on the dress form. Our photography system is undergoing an upgrade to help you see the degree of quality in a Whirling Turban dress.

We have this 100% handwoven cotton sharkskin fabric made locally to our specifications. It looks just like real vintage because it is made exactly like real vintage fabric, and has one color fiber used in the lengthwise direction of the weave and one or two other colors used in the crosswise, creating an iridescent and magically slimming effect. It’s slimming because the eye views the fibers in the lengthwise direction of the weave becoming closer as the fabric turns around your body, thereby creating a “shadow” effect on the sides of your body.

Locally hand-woven 100% cotton sharkskin *woven* just for Whirling Turban- looks like silk. We wish we could show you this fabric close up. Black fibers in one direction of the weave mixed with purple fibers- two different colors of purple (!)  in the crosswise direction make for an iridescent effect. The black fibers create a shadow as they go around your body that’s very slimming. The fabric looks absolutely vintage, and if you have had any of our hand-wovens in the past? SIZING INFORMATION

Whirling Turban’s truly have a Movie Star fit- clinging and structured just like quality vintage; nothing like a modern factory-made dress. While they look polished and expensive, they do cling, which is popular with the gents. The ladies wonder where you got them, and will often ask. The cling is engineered with elastic ruching, a vintage construction technique from the pre-lycra days. So they are deliciously comfortable too, but don’t  ”bunch” as do the  ”stitch 5 seams and you’re done” lycra stretch dresses. And they have old school couture boning and structure to hold everything flatteringly and firmly in place.

For this set, Waist is 30-31″, Bust is 38-39″ and Hips are 42-43″.  Skirt Length from waist to finished hem is 29″.
