Full Skirts 3/4 Circle Skirts

Skirt Styles

A full skirt- often complete with crinoline petticoats- is charming, dramatic and feminine. The contrast created between the fullness of the skirt at the hem and the size of the waist are very flattering to the female proportions. This skirt shape is the hallmark of the mid century "New Look".

You can get the same full vintage drama from a 3/4 circle skirt and it is flattering on all figures. The model at left is wearing a 3/4 circle skirt.

The dresses shown below are full circle skirts. If you are very tall and thin, or if you like to swing dance and swing your skirt out into a complete, flat circle, the full circle skirt may be for you.

Most of our customers prefer the 3/4 circle- we make a fill circle skirt about once year, but are happy to make you which ever style you prefer.

The 50s “poodle skirt” was a full circle, so that, when laid flat on the floor is as a complete circle it the hole cut in the middle for the waist. This shape is very extreme creating a lot of bulk around the bottom of the skirt and tend to be less flattering on a gal with an average eight and waist size.

On this page we will show you the skirt styles we offer. When you order your dress, please be sure you specify the type of skirt style along with the bodice style you want. In most of these instances these skirts are available as separates, but in most cases the skirt is ordered connected to the bodice as a complete dress.

Sarong Skirt Style

The sarong skirt was born in Hawaii in the 50’s as part of the
Golden Years of Hawaiian styles, a fashion trend especially big in
the US but that echoed around the world. The Hawaiian sarong
skirt was inspired by traditional, genuine sarongs worn in traditional
dress of Southeast Asia and the Pacific rim which were actually
rectangles of cloth.

Our sarong skirts were reverently inspired by the Golden Years of
Hawaiian styles and are or close to the body and tapered at the
bottom with draping going diagonally across the front of the body in a
flattering diagonal drape. They flatter most figures, excite figures with waist measurements that do not contrast be enough from the bust and hip measurements so that other is so hourglass shape. These galls should wear a full skirt styles. Variation on the sarong skirt ankle along ankle length and with a triangle of cloth that replace the functional wrap and tie feature at the tip if you prefer less detail at the waist.
